The Delta State Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Asaba, Delta State, has granted the application of the All Progressive Congress (APC) and its governorship candidate, Otega Emerhor, to bring in more documents outside their initial plea.
The application scaled through despite the strong opposition of counsels to the governorship candidate of PDP Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, the Peoples Democratic Party and the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC.
Chairman of the three-man panel of the Tribunal, Justice Nasiru Gunmi, in his ruling, granted leave for the petitioners to bring in two subpoenas not listed in the original petition to tender relevant documents relating to the results of the governorship election held in Delta State on April 11.
The Tribunal, therefore, adjourned till August 25, 2015 for proper hearing of the case.
The APC, its governorship candidate and the Labour Party candidate, Mr Ovedje Ogboru, are separately challenging the victory of Governor Okowa in the governorship election.
