Buhari Swears In SGF, NSA, SA Media

President Mohammadu Buhari has sworn in the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Babachir Lawal, National Security Adviser, Babagana Mungono and the Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr Femi Adesina.

Speaking at the event on Monday, the newly appointed SGF promised not to disappoint Nigerians in the exercise of his duties.

“We know the President and the Vice President. We know that they are men of integrity. We know that they are hard working people. They are very patriotic and they intend to take Nigeria to greatness.

“We are lucky that we are part of this team and we will do our best not to disappoint the President, Nigerians and God,” Mr Lawal said.

Threshold Of Greatness

He made the pledge while addressing reporters at the end of the swearing in ceremony held at the council chambers at the Presidential Villa.

The SGF further expressed optimism that others appointed to the President’s kitchen cabinet would do their best to reposition Nigeria, a country he said was at the threshold of greatness.

On his part, Mr Adesina told Channels Television that it was a privilege to be asked to serve Nigeria.

“We have sworn to an oath today, that we will not betray the country nor betray the confidence reposed in us. We intend to abide by that oath,” he said.

On the appointments made by President Buhari so far, which critics said were lopsided, favouring northerners more, Mr Adesina explained that majority of the appointments were his personal staff.

“He has the prerogative to appoint those ones. Some of those ones are also statutory appointments. The next person in rank normally steps in. And we have said better things are ahead.

“Every part of the country will be taken care of. These are early days. These are early appointments many more are still on their way,” Mr Adesina stated.
