Both countries have taken a step further in military exchange programme, with the successful completion of a four-month training programme for men of the Nigerian Navy.
A team of Chinese naval personnel were on the NNS Sagbama, a complimentary patrol vessel from the Peoples Republic of China, where they trained Nigerian Navy personnel on its maintenance.
At a brief ceremony to honour the Chinese team, the FOC, Western Naval Command, Rear Admiral Jonathan Ango, commended the level of cooperation between the two countries.
“We want to thank them very much for their efforts in putting our personnel through the rigours and techniques of commanding and maintaining the ship, NNS Sagbama,” he said.
A representative of the Chinese Consular, Li Yong, said that all the Chinese team members had stamped their own footprints in the history of China-Nigeria military co-operation.
“We are fully convinced that more frequent military exchanges and closer cooperation between our two countries will be expected,” he said.
