The Chief of Army staff, Lieutenant Gen TY Buratai, has honoured two Nigerian soldiers on the front line for Gallantry during the liberation of Nigerian towns captured by Boko Haram insurgents.
The soldiers who have been on the forefront of offensive operations where Nigerian territories were recaptured, were recognized during a camp fire ceremony in recently liberated Gamboru Ngala of Borno state.
The Chief of Army Staff led the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) and other top commanders in mop-up operations and patrol in the area.
Nigerian troops on the front line are in high spirits since the recapture of economic strategic Gamboru Ngala, which has been under the total control of insurgents since February this year.
The Chief of Army Staff had the Nigerian flag hoisted in Fotocol, a Cameroon village bordering Nigeria from Gamboru Ngala.
He told highly motivated troops that territorial borders must henceforth be defended.
Nigerians dislodged from Gamboru Ngala, as their Cameroonian hosts are proud of the Nigerian Army and excited about the turn of events.
Component bodies of the MNJTF, consisting of the Air Liaison Officer of the Republic of Chad and Representative of the Cameroonian Army, brainstormed and interacted with troops through the night on the way forward.
