Death Toll In Damaturu Multiple Blasts Rises To 18

The death toll in the multiple blasts in Damaturu, the Yobe State capital, Nigeria’s Northeast region has increased to 18.

The blasts went off at the Buhari Housing Estate Damaturu, Yobe State.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Yobe command Toyin Gbadegesin explained that the first blast took place at a Fulani Local Settlement outskirt of Damaturu the state capital while the other two were carried out at the Mohammadu Buhari Housing Estate in Damaturu metropolis.

A witness at the scene of the blast and father of an under graduate killed in the blast, who narrate his ordeal expressed sadness that the deceased is due for registration into the Yobe State University when the sad incident occurred.
Channels Television’s correspondent in Yobe State says that the injured have been taken to the Sani Abacha Specialist Hospital where they are receiving treatment.

Today’s blasts came less than a month after a suicide bomber detonated a bomb at a major motor park also in Damaturu claiming 6 lives and leaving 43 injured.
