A Bank Surveillance Squad of the Ondo State Police Command has discovered a long tunnel dug by suspected armed robbers behind a branch of a first generation bank in Akure, the state’s Capital.
The State Police Commissioner, Michael Ogbodu, informed reporters of the development at a media briefing and parade of crime suspects at the Ondo State Police Command Headquarters in Akure on Friday.
Mr Ogbodu disclosed that the deep tunnel was prepared to serve as a passage to the bank premises and rob the bank.
He advised bank authorities in the state to be conscious of their premises so as to avoid falling victim to criminals.
The suspects, a motorcycle snatcher and an Internet fraudster, who had been defrauding people with fake identity of eminent citizens of the state, including the Deputy Governor, Lasisi Oluboyo, were among the five persons paraded.
