Hurricane PatriciaMexico’s President, Enrique Pena Nieto, has categorised Hurricane Patricia to  two tropical storm, but warned that Patricia still poses as threats.

There are fears of floods and landslides as the hurricane brings heavy rain to parts of the country.

President Nieto, however, said that Patricia; the strongest storm recorded in America, had so far, caused less damage than feared.

The U.S. National Hurricane Center in Miami said that Hurricane Patricia has weakened to barely a Category five with sustained winds of 130 mph (215 kph).

But it is rapidly losing steam as it moves over a mountainous region just inland from the shore.

Late Friday, its center was about 50 miles (75 kilometers) southeast of the resort city of Puerto Vallarta, where rain began to fall harder than it had all day but there was still no sign of strong winds.

But the government has warned that ash from the Colima volcano, which has become increasingly active this year, could combine with heavy rainfall to trigger huge mud-flows.

Some 400,000 people live in vulnerable areas, according to Mexico’s National Disaster Fund.
