NLNG Offers Support For IDPs In North-eastSome staff of the Nigeria Liquified Natural Gas (NLNG) have joined the league of groups identifying with Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) affected by insurgency crisis in the three mostly affected north-east states in Nigeria.

Worried over the rising figure of IDPs in Nigeria, especially in Borno State ranked third highest in the world, the NLNG employees are looking inwards for the solution to the humanitarian crisis in the north-east.

Under the auspices of Let’s Care Initiative, they offered a five-year secondary education scholarship to 30 IDP kids drawn from Adamawa, Borno and Yobe states.

The humanitarians also donated relief items to IDPs camping in Konduga Local government, after being sacked from their villages by the Boko Haram insurgents.

The Chairman of Let’s Care Initiative, Ali Bashir, said that 10 kids from across IDP camps in Maiduguri, Borno State capital would benefit from the scholarship provided by the organisation.

The Borno State Governor, Kashim Shettima, expressed delight on the patriotism exhibited by the group.

The Borno State Commissioner of the Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Ministry, Adamu Zaufanjiba, noted that the destroyed communities were already under construction, and urged other Nigerians to emulate the gesture of the Let’s Care Initiative.

The beneficiaries, who have chosen to remain at their local government headquarters as against joining other IDPs to overwhelm the capital city, complained of hunger and cried for help.
