The five Deputy Comptroller-General of the Customs submitted the voluntary retirement letter on Thursday.
As contained in the letter signed only by four of the retiring officials, their names are Atte A., Musa T. Mera I., Nwosu A. and Adewuyi A.
The letter read: “We the under-listed officers on the rank of Deputy Comptroller-General of Customs met today, 29 October, 2015 and unanimously decided to voluntarily retire from the service of Nigeria Customs Service, having risen to the privileged rank of Deputy Comptroller-General.
“We wish to thank the President for giving us the opportunity to serve our great nation, Nigeria”.
Their reason for resigning was not contained in the letter with the subject, “Voluntary Retirement” and addressed to the comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service.
He takes over from Placid, who was only appointed to that position in March 2026.
