DasukiThe Federal High Court in Abuja is on Tuesday ruling on the application of former National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki’s request to travel out of the country for medical reasons.

Colonel Dasuki is standing trial for money laundering and illegal arms possession.

His counsel, Joseph Daudu had prayed the court to release his travel documents as the purpose was urgent medical issues, and it would be for three weeks.

However, the Director of Public Prosecution, Mohammed Diri, had urged the court to reject the application because the former NSA was still being investigated for money laundering.

He also told the court that Colonel Dasuki was released on bail only on the condition that his travel document be deposited with the court, as such, granting him the reliefs been sought would amount to granting him bail without any condition.

Colonel Dasuki is standing trial on a five-count charge of possession of illegal fire arms and money laundering, which he had denied.

He is also accused of being in possession of $150, 000 and over 37 million Naira in his residence in Sokoto.

The federal government last week filed an amended charge against the former National Security Adviser, after his arraignment on a one-count charge of unlawful possession of firearms without license.
