The Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 6, Baba Bolanta, has said that there would be massive deployment of men of the Police and other security agencies in Rivers State in the coming days.
AIG Bolanta, who was in the company of heads of other security agencies, made the statement during his first official visit to the Rivers State Police Command, Port Harcourt, the state’s capital, on Tuesday.
The AIG said that the new move was to stabilize the security situation in the state and ward off any wave of security tension.
He informed reporters that there is an ongoing deployment of security personnel and equipment to flash points in the state.
The convergence of security agencies has been applauded by residents in view of the political tension that followed the recent governorship election tribunal judgment which did not favour the incumbent PDP-led government in the state.
It is also expected that decisions made at the meeting would further boost efforts to deal with the wave of crime and criminality in the state.
