dicksonAkassa kingdom in Bayelsa State on Friday assured Governor Seriake Dickson of 100 per cent vote at the December 5 governorship election.

The people of Akassa Kingdom, which is made up of 19 communities, however, said that there was no need for the Governor to campaign in their community, as they would vote massively for him.

Sangana community was the first stop of the tour of the kingdom by the Governor. The people welcomed the august presence of the Governor and his team who went to solicit for their vote in the upcoming elections.

The endorsement was not just from the youths, as the paramount ruler of Sangana community, Chief Tekena Dumo, explained why they would work to ensure the re-election of Governor Dickson.

The Acting Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party in Bayelsa State, Mr Serena Dokubo-Spiff, urged the people to keep their words.

Aside Sangana community, ‘the re-elect Dickson’ campaign train also visited Kongho, Liama, Courtkiri, Egbema communities which are all part of the Akassa kingdom.

At each community, the Governor and his entourage were accorded a welcome reception to signify the people’s acceptance of his candidature.

The Deputy Speaker of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly, nonetheless, addressed his people in his mother tongue

“Ensure you vote for Governor Dickson as he has been very gracious to us, giving us several appointments. If we vote for him, he will do more,” he said.

Obviously pleased with the level of acceptance by the people of his desire to continue in office for a second term, the Governor immediately granted the requests made by leaders of the community.

A former commissioner and top female politician in the state, Honorable Slyvia Brigidi, having observed the political climate of the state, expressed the belief that Governor Dickson would be re-elected.

Even though it was a journey of soliciting for votes, there were other side attractions as the campaign afforded home grown musicians and traditional dance troupes an opportunity to express their talents and dance display.
