Social securityA PDP member, Deji Adeyanju, says the motion demanding the commencement of the payment of the N5,000 social security monthly was long overdue.

Adeyanju, who was on Sunrise Daily, shared a different opinion contrary to the views shared by an APC member, Mr Babatunde Ogala, who appeared earlier on the programme.

Mr Ogala had branded the motion in the Senate demanding the commencement of the payment of 5,000 naira monthly stipend to unemployed Nigerians as mischief by the opposition, saying if the policy would become a reality, it has to be well planned.

Adeyanju, however, believes that there is no excuse for the Federal Government to delay implementation of the scheme as the APC government had enough time to plan since it made the promise to Nigerians.

“They won the election about seven months ago and they must have finished planning,” he said.

He also disagreed with Mr Ogala’s view that the country was not buoyant enough.

“I need to correct the impression that Mr Ogala created that ‘if these monies are paid where will the President get the money from?’

“The same place where the President got the bailout money from is where he will get this money from. The same place he got the Multi JTF funds from, the same place he got money he paid day before yesterday to the oil subsidy people is the same place he will get the money from.”
