OkorochaImo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha, has advocated that military and paramilitary training should be introduced into the educational curriculum from the secondary school to tertiary education level in Nigeria.

He said this would help prepare Nigerians and give them adequate security training in the face of rising spate of insecurity and terrorist attacks facing the nation.

Governor Okorocha made this call in Owerri, the Imo State capital, while addressing officers and men of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) at the state headquarters, during the quarterly achievement and assessment programme of the command.

While commending the Corps for ensuring that crime and other related activities like child trafficking and pipeline vandalism is being reduced to its barest minimum in the state, he said that the state government would not relent in supporting all security operatives in the state to wage the war against crime.

In his address, the Imo State Commandant of the NSCDC, Pedro Ideba, disclosed that the Corps in the state has within the past three months recorded tremendous achievements, arresting suspected criminals involved in oil theft and pipeline vandalism, child trafficking syndicates, as well as suspected criminals who are hellbent in ruining the economy and peace enjoyed in the state.

While appealing for further support and collaboration, Mr Ideba stressed that fighting crime is an herculean task that requires adequate financial and material funding from both the state and Federal Government.
