Akwa United has lifted their first ever trophy in Nigeria’s oldest club competition, the Federation Cup, at the Teslim Balogun Stadium in Lagos.
Zachary Baraje’s men put up a fine display to beat Lobi Stars of Makurdi for their first Federation Cup title in the Nigeria’s commercial city.
A fantastic first half free kick by Namso Edo and a volley from Afeez Awakan were all the Uyo based outfit needed to edge out the Markurdi based outfit in a keenly contested final.
A consolation goal from Lobi’s Barnabas Imenger in the 90th minute was not enough to deny the Akwa team the win.
