YobeThe Yobe State Police Command has paraded a 30-year-old man suspected to have raped a two-year-old girl in Nguru town of the state.

The suspect, Ishaku Babangida, is believed to have sexually assaulted the two-year-old girl, Bilkisu Ya’u, in the troubled north east town.

The State Commissioner of Police, Zannah Ibrahim, said that the command had concluded investigation on the suspect and he would soon be arraigned in court.

The CP said this while parading the suspect in Damaturu, the Yobe State capital, along with other suspects believed to have carried out various offences ranging from culpable homicide, robbery, circulation of counterfeit currency, cattle theft among others.

The suspected rapist, Ishaku Babangida, who admitted to have carried out the crime, described it as an act of the devil.

He admitted that the two-year-old girl was actually under aged but was just tempted to have carried out the assault without any fetish intention attached.

The CP also said that seven suspects were being quizzed on circulation of counterfeit 1000 and 500 Naira notes around Potiskum and Fika axis.

He called on the people of the state to be very careful with currencies that exchange hands within the area.

The Commissioner of Police lauded the synergy existing between the command and the public and called for more timely provision of information on the activities and hideouts of criminals in the state.

He gave the assurance that the command would continue to intensify patrols within and around the state to curtail activities of criminals in the state.

CP Zannah Ibrahim also called on Yobe citizens not to take laws into their hands even when offended, but to report culprits to security operatives for necessary action.
