The Minister of Defence, Mohammed Dan-Ali, has again reassured Nigerians that the activities of the Boko Haram insurgents would soon be a thing of the past.

Mr Dan-Ali said the Military was working tirelessly to liberate the remaining areas still occupied by the insurgents from the north-east.

He gave the assurance on Tuesday during the commissioning of projects at the Nigerian Air Force Base in Kaduna State.

The projects include renovation and construction of Cadet quarters and pilot quarters.

The Defence Minister expressed confidence that the Nigerian military, which was a critical element of national security, would no doubt win the war against terrorism, even as Nigerians are eagerly awaiting for the fulfillment of President Buhari’s promise to end Boko Haram activities by the end of December.

He commended the Nigerian Air Force for the successes recorded in the renewed vigour of flushing out the insurgents and effectively degrading their capabilities.

Mr Dan-Ali also announced the present administration’s determination to build a modern force capable of not only guaranteeing security across the nation, but with the ability to project and sustain Nigeria’s leadership position in Africa and beyond.

On his part, the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, opined that for Nigeria to overcome the current security challenges, training and re-training of military personnel was needed.

He said that the training would be an avenue for officers to acquire more knowledge and skills.

President Buhari had expressed confidence that by the end of the year, Boko Haram’s ability to attack, seize, ravage and hold any Nigerian territory would be completely obliterated.
