Nigeria’s President Muhammadu Buhari will be attending the meeting.

According to a statement by President Buhari’s spokesman, Femi Adesina, the summit would be held on the sidelines of the United Nations Conference on Climate Change.

The meeting in France is coming weeks after attacks in Paris, which the Islamic State said it carried out, left 130 persons dead.

In Nigeria, suicide bombers suspected to members of the Boko Haram sect also carried out two different attacks in Kano and Yola. At least 40 persons died in both attacks.

Troops from the member countries of the commission and those from Benin Republic are collaborating on counter-terrorism operations in the region to end the activities of the Boko Haram.

For more than six years, the region has seen attacks by members of the terrorist group and over 1.6 million persons have been displaced form the region, according to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees.

The Islamic group are striving to establish an Islamic State and put an end to Western education in the region.

The group had in March 2015 pledged allegiance to the Islamic State.
