Kano- cattle rustlers in Niger-policeNiger State Police Command has announced the arrest of four suspected cattle rustlers. Over 300 heads of cattle were also recovered about  from the suspects.

The arrest was made in the early hours of Sunday at a suspected cattle rustlers’ hideout at Unguwan Kuka Village in Beji, Bosso Local Government Area of the state, following a tip-off from some concerned citizens.

Report named the suspects as Mohammed Abubakar, Mohammed Tanyi, Mohammed Bashir and Mohammed Bello, were caught with 340 cattle in their possession.

A Police source at the Niger State Criminals Investigation Department, revealed that the suspects have since confessed to the crime during investigation by the Police.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) Niger State Police Command, ASP Bala Elkana, also confirmed the incident, saying the Command is winning the war against the hoodlums.

Mr Elkana stressed further stressed that the Niger State Police Commissioner has asked owners of the recovered cattle to come and collect them, with the proof of ownership.

“And as soon as the rightful owners of the recovered 340 cattle come forward to claim their animals, with proof of ownership, their animals shall be released to them by the Police on bond, after they must have identified them individually “, Elkana said.

He added that the four suspected cattle rustlers, would be charged to court as soon as investigation is concluded.
