DPRThe President of the Non-Academic Staff Union of educational and associated institutions (NASU) has opposed to the removal of fuel subsidy.

While addressing a conference in Abuja on Tuesday, the President of the union, Mrs Ladi Iliya, said the present economic realities do not support the campaign by some politicians that the fuel subsidy should be removed.

Meanwhile, the Governor of Edo State, Governor Adams Oshiomhole, has urged the workers union to support President Muhammadu Buhari to reclaim all looted funds so that the government could improve the welfare of workers.

The theme of this conference is “Organised Labour and the Revival of Nigeria’s Educational Research Institutions”.

Others, who spoke at the event, urged the government to invest in infrastructure development in tertiary institutions.

On November 14, the Leadership of the Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas sought a complete removal of fuel subsidy.

The union expressed the belief that a total deregulation of the downstream sector and complete removal of fuel subsidy would solve the nation’s prolonged fuel crisis and scarcity.
