Over 50 shops perished with property worth millions of naira burnt to ashes after a fire outbreak hit the popular Abubakar Rimi market in Sabon Gari, Kano North West, Nigeria.
Eyewitnesses told our correspondent that the fire started from the furniture section and some parts of the pharmaceutical section of the market around 7pm on Thursday evening.
The fire was said to have raged for over 30 minutes before firefighters arrived at the market to control it.
Although authorities were yet to react to the incident as at the time of the inferno but traders told Channels TV that there was no loss of life or injury from the fire attack.
