Police were called to the scene, following reports of people being attacked at Leytonstone station, just after 19:00 GMT on Saturday.

The knife-wielding assailant who reportedly screamed “this is for Syria”, was arrested after being Tasered by Police.

One man suffered serious knife injuries while two others received minor injuries.

According to Metropolitan Police counter-terrorism detectives who are investigating the case, the suspect was reportedly threatening other people with a knife.

They believe the injuries sustained by most seriously-hurt victims are not likely to be life-threatening.

An eye witness said that he saw a man holding a 3-inch long knife, standing over another man who was lying on the ground, and people running out of the central line station.

There has been severe disruption to the tube as a result of the attack.
