Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State has granted automatic employment to 23 persons living with disabilities, naming one of them a Special Adviser to the Governor on Disability.
He also donated 50 wheelchairs to those with various forms of paralysis.
Mr Ortom made the donations at a ceremony organised by his wife, Mrs Eunice Ortom, to empower the state’s Physically Challenge Persons’ Home.
The Governor also donated two vehicles to the centre and appointed a senior special adviser on disability from among them.
Other items donated by the Governor and his wife were, bags of rice, plastic buckets, toiletries and other essential needs for the smooth running of the centre.
