Adekuoroye To Feature In Indian LeagueThe Nigeria Wrestling Federation has confirmed that two-time African Champion, Odunayo Adekuoroye, will be participating at the highly rated Indian league which kicks off from December 10 to December 27.

The 2014 Commonwealth Gold medalist has also signed a two year deal with an Indian-based wrestling club, Mumbai team.

The Coach of the Female National Team, Purity Akuh, said that Adekuoroye needed to wrestle with international athletes to have a chance of securing a medal at the 2016 Olympics in Rio, Brazil.

Coach Purity who guided Adekuroye to win bronze at the 2015 World Wrestling Championship in Las Vegas in USA, expressed confidence that with good international exposure, the wrestler would become competitive and understand different techniques that would enable her excel in the sport.

Corroborating his opinion, the Technical Director, Nigeria Wrestling Federation, Damien Ohaike, advised the National Sport Commission (NSC) to invest heavily in Adekuoroye, as she had the quality to do the nation proud at world class competitions.

The 21-year old competes in the Women’s freestyle 53kg event.
