NASU Protest Disengagement Of FUTA Primary School StaffMembers of the Non Academic Staff Union of Universities (NASU) at the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA) have protested the decision of the university authorities over the disengagement of the staff of the university’s staff primary school.

The workers staged a peaceful protest in the university campus and to press home their demand that the staff of the primary school, who were recruited by the university management like any other staff, could not be disengaged in such manner.

The NASU Chairman in FUTA, Adebayo Aladerotohun, argued that the development was peculiar to FUTA only, as no other federal university has disengaged the staff of their primary schools.

The workers maintained that the case was already in court, saying any attempt by the university’s management to implement the policy would be resisted.

In his response, the Vice Chancellor of FUTA, Professor Adebiyi Daramola, disclosed that the policy was from the Federal Government.

He said that a directive was given that the primary school teachers should be removed from the payroll of the Federal Government from January 2016.
