saudi-arabiaHistory is being made in Saudi Arabia as women have been allowed to vote in municipal elections on Saturday.

This is the first time in which women can cast their ballot in the history of the nation.

Women are also standing as candidates, another first, despite the conservative kingdom being the only nation where women are not allowed to drive.

A total of 978 women have registered as candidates, alongside 5,938 men.

Report says that about 130,000 women have registered to vote, though it falls below that of male voters registration, which is over one million.
