The Federal Road Maintenance Agency (FERMA) has reassured the people of the South-East that the agency will do all it can to ensure they make better use of the dry season to address issues of dilapidated roads.
The South-East Zonal Coordinator of FERMA, Rufus Onimisi, disclosed this in Owerri, Imo State capital on Saturday.
Mr Onimisi made the statement after an inspection of some federal roads that are on rehabilitation, failed portion of the Owerri-Onitsha road as well as the erosion affected part of the Owerri-Umuahia road at Obowo Local Government Area.
The Coordinator said the Agency’s major challenge has been the raining season which hindered so much work.
While appealing to commuters and citizens to be patient during the ongoing road rehabilitation, he promised that the Agency will ensure that a large part of the failed roads in the south-east would be attended to especially during the Yuletide season.
Meanwhile, some commuters and residence of the affected areas commended the Federal Government for this development as it would go a long way to end motor accidents that occur due to bad roads in the area.
