Al-makura Frees 78 Prison Inmates In Nasarawa

Nasarawa State Governor, Tanko Al-makura, has granted freedom to 78 prison inmates, majority of whom were on the awaiting trial list across five federal prisons in the state.

Governor Al-makura said that this was part of efforts to decongest prisons in Nasarawa State in north-central Nigeria and grant clemency to prisoners who were yet to be convicted.

He said that the state government had taken responsibilities of the charges that had confined some of the jailbirds behind the bars.

In his commendation, the Nasarawa State Comptroller of Prisons, Mr Hussaini Mohammed, lauded the Governor’s intervention to decongest the prisons.
