DeltaThe Non-Academic Staff Union and National Union of Road Transport Workers (NASU), Delta Chapter have called on the Delta government to take serious their welfare.

Speaking on behalf of the union, the Chairman of NASU, State Council Asaba, Comrade C.P Akpede, stressed the need to prioritise the salaries of workers in the state.

Assuring the Governor of their support for his administration, he noted that for a worker to be relevant and productive, he needed his daily/monthly salary.

He also brought to the notice of the Governor, the fact that the zonal offices created by the former chairperson of the board about five years ago had not taken off due to non-provision of office accommodation and furniture.

Addressing the issues raises by the union, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa urged the leadership of trade unions to instill in their members, productivity and discipline in their work places.

He explained the reasons for delayed salaries in the state and also promised that his administration would always give priority to the payment of salaries no matter the situation.
