Abia Police Launch Strategies For Festive Season

PoliceThe Ogun State Police Command has announced a total ban on the use of banger, firecrackers and knockout, saying that anyone caught would be arrested and prosecuted accordingly.

The state Commissioner of Police, Mr Abdulmajid Ali, handed down the warning in his office in Abeokuta, the state capital, while parading about 35 suspects arrested from various areas across the state for various offenses.

The command also paraded a truck loaded with 297 bags of substance suspected to be Indian hemp along Ajuwon/Akute road in Ifo Local Government Area of the state.

According to the Police Commissioner, it is now a crime to organise illegal procession, use firecrackers, knockout, etc. He said that the sale and use of those items remained banned, just as he asked residents and fun seekers to be moderate and vigilant.

While assuring residents of adequate protection of life and property, the Police boss also canvassed quality information from members of the general public that can lead to the arrest of criminals in their midst.
