PoliceThe Nigeria Police Force has urged the residents of Lagos State (Lagosians) to continually support the force to enhance the security architecture of the state.

The State’s Commissioner of Police, Fatai Owoseni, made the appeal on Saturday during an interview with Channels Television at the force’s Headquarters in Lagos State, Nigeria’s commercial capital.

He said: “We look forward to people in Lagos cooperating with us, giving us information timely, being more cautious of their environment and of course knowing that we all have obligations”.

Mr Owoseni also called on Lagosians to be more committed to the safety of lives and property, urging them to see it as their responsibilities and not just the Police’s.

“We have obligations to ourselves in order for us to be safe and secure and that no other person can make us safe other than ourselves,” he said.

The Police Commissioner cautioned erring motorcyclists and street traders to desist from their illicit activities and asked the residents to stop patronising them.

“Those vices like street trading, motorcyclists violating the law on restriction of motorcycles to certain areas; that is not just about them. It is about all of us playing our parts by not patronising the motorcyclists where they are not supposed to ply,” the Police boss said.
