Political and traditional leaders of Okigwe extraction in Imo State have come together to reconcile their differences.
Aimed at forging a common course in the interest of the people of the zone, the Okigwe stakeholders’ meeting was held at Isiebu in Isiala Mbano Local Government Area of the state on Tuesday.
The convener, Senator Ifeanyi Ararume, said that the aim of the meeting was to call for peace and unity among Okigwe people despite their past differences.
Senator Ararume added that the purpose of the meeting was to support the All Progressives Congress (APC) led Federal Government headed by President Muhammadu Buhari and the Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha in order to benefit holistically from the dividends of the change mantra of the APC.
Amongst other things, the meeting also discussed the forthcoming senatorial rerun election in the zone as they all promised to work in tandem to support the candidate of the APC in the forthcoming election.
Present at the meeting were all present and past legislators from the zone, traditional rulers and political appointees past and present.
