Over 26,000 different fire arms, ammunition, cartridges, 10 IED materials, 137 million naira were recovered by the Rivers State Police Command with over 98 bank robberies foiled in 2015.
This was revealed to journalists by the Public Relations Officer of the Rivers State Police Command, DSP Ahmad Mohammad, during a media briefing at the command’s headquarters in Port Harcourt the Rivers State capital.
The briefing was hosting by the Police to provide a summary of their operations in the past year.
According to the PPRO, 802 suspected robbers, kidnappers and cultists were nabbed and 243 of that number were killed during exchange of gun fire with the Police in various operations.
According to the Police Command boss, the ammunition were recovered and mopped up in 2015.
He added that increased raids on criminal hideouts, crime and criminality are expected to yield more results in 2016.
