The Ogun State Government has allayed the fears of residents over the outbreak of Lassa fever in three neighbouring states of Oyo, Lagos and Ondo, saying that proactive measures have been put in place to address any eventuality.

Addressing journalists at a press briefing in Abeokuta, the state capital, the state Commissioner for Health, Mr Babatunde Ipaye and his Information and Strategy counterpart, Mr Adedayo Adeneye, informed that no single case of Lassa fever has been currently found in the state

They said local government health personnel have been put on standby while health facilities have been reinforced to deal with any reported case of outbreak of the virus

While asking residents not to panic in this circumstance, the Commissioner for Health, however, challenged residents to maintain good personal hygiene, by keeping their environment clean

And to ensure effective communication in case of any suspicious happening, the state has reeled out some telephone lines – 09099140121 and 09099140122 – for residents to call.
