The Ebonyi State Police Command have arrested Benjamin Ibiam, who is suspected to have killed one Chijioke and buried him in a shallow grave at Ugbonna forest in the state.
Mr Ibiam, who is 29 years old, is from Ugbona Isieke Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.
While parading the suspect at the Command Headquarters In Abakaliki, the capital of Ebonyi State, in southeast Nigeria on Saturday, the Commissioner of Police, Mrs Peace Abdallah, said: “Following a tip off of a robbery gang activity, the suspect, who is the leader of a notorious armed robbery gang upon arrest at his residence, confessed that he and his gang had just came back from an armed robbery operation in Anambra State after which an argument ensued between him and his colleague over the sharing formula of the loot that later resulted in him killing his colleague and burying him immediately”.
The Commissioner of Police also said that in determination to fight crime and other criminality in the state, the Command arrested 11 suspects including a Civil Defence officer involved in pipeline vandalism at Amaeze, in Ivo Local Government Area of Ebonyi State following a tip off from members of the community.
Mrs Abdallah said that the matter was under investigation and that if found guilty, the suspects would face the full wrath of the law as pipeline vandalism was a high economic sabotage.
Meanwhile, CP Abdallah reassured law abiding citizens of the state that the Command would not leave no stone unturned in a bid to protect life and property of indigenes of the state.
