Members of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria (Shiites), have said that the group’s clash with the Nigerian Army in last December, was premeditated.
The group made a presentation to the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), in Abuja on Tuesday, to tell its side of what happened on December 12, 2015 in Zaria, Kaduna State.
The leader of the Free Zakzaky Campaign, Abdulrahman Yola, said that the plan was well executed.
Mr Yola, however, called on the panel set by the NHRC to do justice to the matter.
“I do pray that all who love this country and humanity, will try all they could, to see that the truth be made public so that we would know why this unfortunate incident happened.
“As far as we are concerned, it was something that was premeditated – well planned and executed,” Mr Yola said.
However, the Executive Secretary of the Commission, Professor Bem Angwe, insisted that the panel would get to the bottom of the matter in fairness to all concerned.
“This Commission is going to be very fair, impartial and determined to listen to every information that would enable the Commission take a full decision on this matter in line with the constitutional provisions, law establishing institution and desire of the Nigerian people.
“What I want to assure you is that we would get to the truth of this matter and when we get the truth, we would let Nigerians know,” he maintained.
