Resident-doctorsDoctors Under the aegis of the Nigeria Medical Association, Osun State chapter, took to the streets of Osogbo, the capital of Osun State, to protest the non-payment of their salaries and other emoluments for over four month .

‎The doctors who took the protest to the Osun State House of Assembly on Tuesday, called on the lawmakers to intervene and save the health care system from total collapse.

At the State House of Assembly, the doctors were received by the Deputy Speaker of the House, Honourable Adegboye.

On the floor of the hallowed chamber, they were given the opportunity to address the House.

The Deputy Speaker acknowledged all the complaints of the doctors, but appealed for patience, saying that the House would take their grievance to the executive for consideration.

The doctors left the chamber with the hope that the lawmakers would this time, prevail on the executive.

In the meantime, the ‎House fixed another meeting with the doctors for Wednesday February 17.

The Nigeria Medical Association said it would also hold a three-day warning strike in solidarity with Osun doctors. The strike will begin on February 17.
