The new National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Ali Modu Sheriff, has officially resumed office despite calls from some party members for him to resign.
Senator Sheriff officially took over the affairs of the party from Mr Uche Secondus, who has been acting as the Chairman since Adamu Muazu resigned in May 2015.
In his remark at the official handling of office, the PDP Deputy National Chairman, Uche Secondus, urged the new Chairman to unite the party and work with the youths.
While promising to reach out to all aggrieved members of the party, the new PDP Chairman stated that he would take those who accused him of being the founder and sponsor of Boko Haram to court.
Since the emergence of Senator Ali Modu Sheriff as the National Chairman, there has been several criticisms about the manner of his emergence and also questions about his integrity.
He promised to reach out to all aggrieved members including those that have shifted their followership to other political parties.
