NMAThe Nigeria Medical Association (NMA) says it will exploit every means to protect its members against what it described as ‘unjust treatment’ by the Osun State government.

The southwest zone of NMA resolved to this during a caucus meeting held in Ile-Ife while reacting to the crisis in the Osun State health sector in southwest Nigeria.

The leadership of the NMA explained that the current struggle between the doctors and the state government over the non-payment of salaries and obnoxious tax regime of the government has exposed the anti-people stance of the Governor Rauf Aregbesola-led administration.

The Chairperson, NMA southwest zone, Dr. Adenike Odewabi, ‎said that the strike embarked upon by the doctors could have been avoided if the government had engaged the doctors in a formal dialogue to arrive at a solution to the demands of the people.

Dr. Odewabi appealed to the Federal Government, religious leaders and all authorities concerned to wade into the crisis and find a permanent solution to the strike, or the association would be forced to picket the Governor’s office.
