Police To Expand Complaints Response Unit

The Police Public Relations Officer, Olabisi Kolawole, has announced plans by the Force to expand the Police Complaints Response Unit with officers and men who are fluent in local languages.

This is part of efforts to guard against Police brutality and illegal duties by officers and men of the Nigeria Police Force.

ACP Olabisi Kolawole made the disclosure while addressing a news conference in Abuja.

She said that the Inspector General of Police, Mr Solomon Arase, has also approved the creation of an Investigation Unit within the Complaints Response Unit to investigate cases of high public interest involving the violation of people’s rights by members of the Force.

The Force Public Relations Officer, however, assured policemen that the Complaints Response Unit is not a demonization of Police activities but a wakeup call for officers and men of the Force to key into international best practices of global policing.
