The Osun State chapter of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), has demanded for full payment of modulated salaries of the workers on level eight and above from the State Government.
The leadership of the NLC made the demand at an emergency meeting between Labour and the Joint Negotiating Council (JNC) in Osogbo, the capital of Osun State on Saturday.
Addressing reporters at the end of the meeting, Chairman of the Osun State chapter of the NLC, Jacob Adekomi, said that the Labour leaders at no time, signed any agreement with the government on a 50 per cent take home pay for workers on level eight and above.
Mr Adekomi said that the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) entered into by Labour with the government on July 13, 2015, was based on the prevailing circumstance bothering on paucity of funds at that time.
He noted that the Osun State workforce has shown much understanding to the financial challenges of the government, but queried government’s commitment to the said agreement.
The Labour Leader maintained that since government is able to pay workers on grade level 1-7 full salaries, workers on grade level 8-17 would no longer be disposed to collecting half salaries.
He called on the government to put its house in order and commence full implementation of various accumulated allowances of workers in Osun State to avert another round of industrial upheaval in the state.
