AdamawaThe Cross River State Resident Electoral commissioner (REC) , Mrs Gesila Khan, has urged political parties in the state to play according to rules governing elections in order to have a peaceful poll.

According to the State INEC boss, this is in the wake of preparations for the rescheduled Cross River State House of Assembly elections for Yakurr 2 State Constituency.

Addressing political stakeholders at the INEC office in Calabar, the REC disclosed that the elections will witness the use of card readers as the machines to be used have already been configured.

She called for cooperation among the candidates vying for the same position and urged them to completely shun violence and criminal activities which marred the last polls.

Responding, one of the candidates also called on the electoral body to ensure even distribution of materials across board as well as alternative means of voting in case the card readers fail to work on the field.
