NasarawaThe Inspector General of Police, Solomon Arase, has appealed to the Nasarawa State Government to provide lands for the Police to facilitate the Post Retirement Police Housing Scheme.

The IGP made the appeal at the Government House in Lafia, the capital of Nasarawa State on Friday during his first official visit to Nasarawa State.

The Police boss said that the visit was to see how his men were faring and to assess the security situation in the state, especially with regards to the clashes between farmers and herdsmen.

Appreciating the visit, the State Governor, Tanko Al-makura, thanked Mr Arase for the efforts of the Police towards restoring peace to Nasarawa and its neighbouring states.

He told the IGP that the Police helicopter given to the state has helped immensely in the areas of surveillance.

He promised to further support the initiatives of the Police boss in containing the clashes between farmers and herdsmen in the state.

With regards to the IGP’s appeal, the Governor ordered the State’s Commissioner of Lands and Survey, Mr Sunny Agassi, to act swiftly in that direction.

The Post Retirement Housing Scheme for junior officers of the Police Force, if achieved, is expected to reduce corruption and boost the morale of the Police to do more in protecting lives and property.
