Governor Seriake Dickson has inaugurated a 9-member environmental sanitation authority with the mandate of cleaning up Yenagoa and its environs.
Performing the inauguration ceremony in the government house in Yenagoa, the Governor charged the newly inaugurated members of the Bayelsa State Environmental Sanitation Authority to establish a modern refuse disposal system and a waste recycling plant.
The Governor challenged the members to make a difference by putting in place a transparent and foolproof accounting system and revenue collection mechanism.
Aside keeping the state clean, the activities of the authority is expected to be a new source of employment as it is expected to engage the services of young, unemployed Bayelsa residents.
Members of the State Environmental Sanitation Authority are Mr Asanakpo Lucky, Mr Randy Awolowo, Mr Ibena Salvation, Mr Pereowei Aguruze and Mr Longlife Gilbert.
Others are Mr Inidunimi Victor Isaiah, Mr Monday Gamage and Mrs Rosemary Endeley Princewill.
Chief Robert Enogha is the Chairman of the committee as they attempt to possibly make the Bayelsa State capital the cleanest in the nation.
