Internally Displaced Persons (IPDs) in Odeni Magaji and its environs in Udege Development Area of Nasarawa State now have access to healthcare, with the stationing of a mobile clinic in the area.
The mobile clinic was provided for the IDPs by the state government which had earlier provided relief materials.
Most of the IDPs are those affected by communal crisis in Nasarawa State.
Sympathising with the affected persons during a visit to ascertain the level of destruction in the village, Governor Tanko Almakura assured the people that the mobile clinic would remain in the area until their primary healthcare centre, which was destroyed during the crisis, was put back to shape.
He also assured them that health personnel, including doctors, would be on ground to take care of their health needs.
“Severe conditions will be moved to a specialist hospital for urgent medical attention,” he said.
Governor Almakura also told the IDPs that the government was intensifying efforts to ensure normalcy returned to the area and all other areas affected by communal crisis. He said that the government was interfacing with security operatives and collaborating with the Benue State government to achieve that.
The mobile clinic has adequate facilities and 24-hour electricity supply.
It is expected to treat minor illnesses, take deliveries and perform minor surgeries with severe condition arranged to be moved to a specialist hospital for urgent medical attention.
Even with all this, more should still by the government and other stakeholders involved to ensure that lives and property of Nigerian are protected.
Crisis broke out in Odeni Magaji in Udege Development Area of Nasarawa State on January 3 which resulted to the destruction of property.
Although complete normalcy is yet to return to the area, security personnel have been deployed and the people have begun to return to their homes.
The community was one of the communities that benefitted from the robust distribution of relief materials and building materials by the state government.
