Troops from the 1 Division of the Nigerian Army have killed 35 insurgents and arrested 38 armed bandits during series of operations carried out in states within the north-west zone of Nigeria.
The General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the division, Major General Adeniyi Oyebade, on Saturday, made the development known while briefing reporters on their activities within the past two months.
General Oyebade said that the criminals were killed by troops of the Operation Sharan Daji, while the 38 others that were arrested had been handed over to the Police in the various states of their arrest.
He said that 6,009 animals were recovered within the zone as well as several AK-47 rifles, Dane guns and a variety of weapons and ammunition.
General Oyebade also disclosed that during the course of the various operations, a Sergeant was killed by the armed bandits while three soldiers sustained injuries.
He noted that fleeing terrorists from the north-east to north-west were being tracked and many of them arrested.
