According to the member of the Lagos State House of Assembly representing Kosofe Constituency 2, Mr Tunde Buraimoh, the building had shown signs of distress as some portion of the balcony was caving in.
He told newsmen that a full scale investigation as to the actual cause would be carried out by relevant government agencies.
“The collapse did not affect the main structure, it was just the frontage of the building… We have mobilized funds and materials to invite the Material Testing Laboratory to come and look at the rest of the structure.
“They will give a critical appraisal of the integrity of the structure. If the structure needs to go, it has to go but if it just needs some fixing and repairs, it will be done.”
He also confirmed that there were no casualties in the building collapse.
“As far as life is concerned, nobody died and we thank God for that but one man and a woman were injured. They have been treated and discharged,” he said.
