The Revenue Mobilization Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) has disagreed with the office of the Auditor-General of the Federation over the alleged 4.9 trillion Naira which the Auditor-General claimed the NNPC failed to remit to the Federation Account in 2014.
In a statement released on Monday, the revenue commission noted that while the Auditor-General, Samuel Ukura, put the national oil company’s debt at 3.2 trillion Naira, the commission’s records revealed that the state oil firm owed the federation account 1.99 trillion Naira only.
The statement added that the figure quoted by the Auditor-General must have included revenues from other sources.
The NNPC had earlier refuted the Auditor-General’s claims insisting, that the amount owed the federal government was about 320 billion Naira.
The Office of the Auditor-General of the Federation had presented a report to the National Assembly detailing what it called ‘massive fraud and financial irregularities in the NNPC and government agencies’.
The Auditor-General of the Federation, Samuel Ukara, made the presentation in a meeting at the National Assembly.
Other agencies allegedly caught in the web of fraud by the Office of the Auditor-General of the Federation were the Police Service Commission, foreign missions, Nigeria Port Authority (NPA), Petroleum Equalisation Fund (PEF), Nigerian Prison Service and Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN).
