PoliceThe Inspector General of Police, Mr Solomon Arase, has organized a welfare package for families of officers who lost their lives in active service in Adamawa State.

The sum of one million naira was approved for each family to cushion the effects of their loss.

Presenting the cheques to families of four policemen who died during the explosion that rocked the Jimeta Division of the Nigerian Police Station in Yola, Adamawa State, the Assistant Inspector General of Police Zone 3, Lawal Tanko, said that the amount would help cushion the effects of their loss.

Some Improvised Explosive Devices recovered from the Boko Haram sect and stored at the Bomb Disposal Unit’s office located at Jimeta Divisional Police Headquarters, Yola exploded killing four officers attached to the unit in February 2016.

To prevent a recurrence, the AIG also revealed that the Anti Bomb Unit has been relocated to a safer place far from public view following a general outcry for its relocation.

In the same vain, the sum of 500,000 naira to one million Naira was also approved for the families of 20 officers who died while in active service within the three states under Zone 3 Headquarters, Yola.

In addition, the Inspector General of Police also approved scholarship awards to the children of the deceased to support their education.

In his vote of thanks, one Mr Barnabas Ojobo, representing the beneficiaries, thanked the IGP for the assistance.
