Yusuf-Lasun-deputy-speakerThe Deputy Speaker of Nigeria’s House of Representatives, Honourable Lasun Yusuf, has empowered about 600 indigent women in Ilobu town in Osun State.

While handing over some funds to the women on Monday, Honourable Yusuf, stressed that governance could only be said to be meaningful if it catered for the welfare and security of its constituents.

The Deputy Speaker, however, said that, as the representative of Irepodun, Olorunda, Osogbo and Orolu Federal Constituency, the task of taking care of the people was a must for him.

“Governance is about service and security. When you cannot give welfare to the people…. This is all about the welfare to the people. My politics is service and they should expect service from me either in terms of infrastructure or human empowerment,” he said.

Honourable Yusuf vowed to continue to improve the lives of the constituents who elected him into power.

One after the other, the women drawn from the six wards, were called upon to receive the sum of 10,000 Naira to assist in boosting their businesses.

One hundred women were shortlisted from each ward and they all benefited from the six million Naira empowerment programme of the lawmaker.

Some of the beneficiaries and some party Leaders commended the initiative of the Deputy Speaker.

“Whether we use it to feed or to trade, we are satisfied. May God connect us to merciful persons. May he not fail but continue to make progress,” a beneficiary, Muibat Ibrahim, said.
